Hunt, Texas Flood Relief
Ready hands. Steady hope.
Supply distribution and meal support
Prayer, encouragement, and family care
After flooding devastated families near Hunt, Texas, Heritage Youth Missions mobilized students, leaders, and volunteers to help with immediate relief. The work centered on showing up quickly, serving quietly, and bringing practical help to neighbors facing loss.
Teams helped with cleanup, debris removal, supply distribution, meals, prayer, and encouragement. The goal was simple: carry burdens with families while local churches and recovery partners continued the longer work.
Hunt, Texas Flood Relief reflects what HYM wants students to learn: compassion becomes real when it takes on a shovel, a meal, a listening ear, and a willingness to stay useful after the first rush of attention fades.
The Hunt response required quick coordination and humble service. HYM matched volunteer teams with practical needs, moved supplies where they were useful, and kept the focus on families rather than publicity.
The work was intentionally simple: clean what could be cleaned, carry what needed carrying, pray with those who wanted prayer, and support the local people who would still be there after the immediate response.
Outcomes + Why It Matters
Why Hunt, Texas?
Hunt was close enough for HYM to respond quickly and personal enough to make the need impossible to ignore. Flood relief gave students a concrete way to serve Texas families in crisis.
What did the team do?
Students and leaders helped with cleanup, debris hauling, supply distribution, meals, and prayer support while following the direction of local coordinators.
What made this different from a normal trip?
Flood relief is urgent and emotional. The team had to serve with flexibility, respect, and care for families who were still processing loss.
What did students learn?
Students learned that service is often ordinary, physical, and unseen. Faith becomes tangible through small acts done faithfully.
